Manito Transit Recognized as SmartWay Partner

Bloomington, IL - Manito Transit today announced that it joined the SmartWay Transport Partnership, an innovative collaboration between U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and industry that provides a framework to assess the environmental and energy efficiency of goods movement supply chains.

Manito Transit will contribute to the Partnership's savings of 170.3 million barrels of oil, $24.9 billion in fuel costs, 72.8MMT of carbon dioxide, 1,458,000 tons of nitrogen oxides, and 59,000 tons of particulate matter. This is the equivalent to eliminating annual energy use in over 6 million homes. Carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas, and nitrogen oxide is an air pollutant that contributes to smog. By joining SmartWay Transport Partnership, Manito Transit demonstrates its strong environmental leadership and corporate responsibility.

Manito Transit, with its mission to be recognized in the trucking industry as a carrier that differentiates itself as "Your Perfect Service Carrier", is looking forward to doing their part as a responsible corporate citizen in achieving the SmartWay Transport Partnership goals.

Developed jointly in early 2003 by EPA and Charter Partners represented by stakeholders, environmental groups, American Trucking Associations and Business for Social Responsibility, this innovative program was launched in 2004. Partners rely upon SmartWay tools and approaches to track and reduce emissions and fuel use from goods movement. The Partnership currently has over 3,000 Partners including shippers, logistics companies, truck, rail, barge, and multimodal carriers.

Manito Transit announces merger with Wolff Transports

In response to increasing sales, Manito Transit is growing their Perfect Service model by merging with Wolff Transports. The joining of the two companies will effectively expand their service footprint to markets in La Crosse and Madison Wisconsin, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Litchfield, Illinois. The completed expansion will enable Manito to better serve current customers while additionally increasing business opportunities in a larger geographical market.



 

Manito Transit names new General Manager

Brandon Curtis has been named General Manager of Manito Transit. He will be responsible for the sales, operations, and financial areas of the business to ensure our commitment to perfect service. Brandon joined the GROWMARK System in 2013 as a Transportation Analyst, and then moved to the brokerage team as a Freight Broker/Dispatcher before becoming the Fleet Operations Manager - North. Brandon's previous experience will position Manito well for the future.

Manito Transit now at their new location in Bloomington

Manito Transit moved from its Ashkum, Ill. location to a location in Bloomington effective July, 13. The move includes the operation’s planning, dispatch, safety, invoicing, and customer service functions.

The Manito Transit fleet delivers more than 75 loads of refined fuels, propane, ammonia, lubes and DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) daily.

Manito Transit, LLC acquires Hansen Transfer, LLC

On May 13, 2013 Manito Transit, LLC acquires the assets of Hansen Transfer a dedicated Lubricant carrier based in Omaha Ne. This acquisition gives Manito Transit 11 states it will provide perfect service for Refined and Renewable Fuels, Lubricants, NH3, and Chemicals. This will increase Manito’s fleet to nearly 30 trucks. The employee’s and drivers of both companies will benefit from this acquisition. Our customers will benefit from this as well with our expanded market.

 


 

Meet Our Controller : Scott Bland

Scott Bland graduated from Illinois State University in May of 2010 with a B.S. Degree in Accounting and a Masters of Professional Accountancy. He received his CPA License in March of 2011. He began his career working for Meier Oil Service in January of 2011 as the assistant controller. On December 31, 2012 following the sale of Meier Oil Service and Manito Transit, he became the Controller of Manito Transit LLC.

Meet our Operations Manager : Lee Louret

Lee started in the petroleum hauling business as a driver in 1972 working for a Peoria based tank line, Rocket Motor Freight Lines, operating in seven states. From 1991 to 1993 Lee was assigned to Hazardous Materials Training duties for the company by authoring the Policy and Procedure Manual and the training/testing and record keeping of drivers in the company. Lee began working for Manito Transit in 1993 as the Safety Superintendent for both Bloomington and Champaign locations and Champaign Terminal Manager.

Lee is a Registered Inspector by the requirements of Title 49 CFR Part 180 allowing him to perform the duties of a Registered Inspector for cargo tanks in our maintenance facility.
